All Seasons Memorials Obituaries

Letters to the Editor - The Daily Gazette

A good example is the proposed Capital District Jewish Holocaust Memorial, the building of which has strong support from individuals and organizations in Niskayuna and across the region. We’ve been working very closely with the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York. We’re working to build consensus around an updated design and are making great progress developing a final design for the memorial. But there’s still more work to be done,  including community forums for additional public input, which is why we asked the town board to reschedule the vote. There is consensus for ensuring that the Holocaust Memorial provide an educational experience to help people better understand the anti-Semitism, hatred and brutality that led to the Holocaust, and for honoring the memory of the victims by sharing their personal stories. We have one simple goal: create a memorial that will inspire others to create a world without hatred, prejudice and bigotry. It’s worth noting that there was much debate prior to other memorials, the Vietnam Memorial, the World War II Memorial and Washington’s United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, being built. The debate led to consensus, as it will the Capital District Jewish Holocaust Memorial.Bishop Scharfenberger deserves special praise for his vision. The Catholic Diocese and the Jewish community working together for this project is history making and will help bring all faiths together.During the seasons of Hanukah and Christmas, when Jews and Christians praise the miracles of God in accordance with their beliefs, we stand united in hope for a peaceful world free from pain, hate and despair.Happy holidays to all.Dr. Michael LozmanLathamThe writer is the president of the Capital District Jewish Holocaust Memorial.Related Content...

Memorial's Combs, Lindauer voted IFCA Top 50 all-staters - Evansville Courier & Press

Wide receiver Branson Combs and quarterback Michael Lindauer were named to the Indiana Football Coaches Association Top 50 all-staters on Saturday. They led the Tigers to a Class 3A state runner-up finish on Nov. 24 and a 14-1 record and 22 successive wins over two seasons, including the 2017 state title. The Top 50 is regarded as the cream of the crop, regardless of class. Memorial was represented by linebacker Max Goodwin on the Class 3A senior all-state team. Gibson Southern had three selections: offensive lineman Noah Singer, wide receiver Dawson Witte and defensive back Andrew Smith. They were joined by wide receiver Sam Thomas of Mount Vernon and defensive back Spencer Corrona of Vincennes Lincoln. Central was well-represented on the Class 4A senior all-state team, with wide receiver Malcolm DePriest, defensive lineman Rayzel Joiner and linebacker Austin Frasier. They sparked the Bears to a state runner-up finish on Nov. 23 and a 13-2 mark. They were joined by Reitz offensive lineman Logan Maynard and defensive back Andrew Word. Boonville running back Luke Conner was also chosen. Southridge had two players named to the 2A senior team: offensive lineman Matt Gentry and running back Tucker Schank. Memorial's Michael Lindauer receives football scholarship offer from Cincinnati - Evansville Courier & Press

Despite setting multiple school records during his time at Memorial, the standout quarterback had not yet received a scholarship offer from a team in the Football Bowl Subdivision. That changed on Wednesday when the University of Cincinnati offered him an athletic scholarship. The Indiana Mr. Football candidate is taking an official visit to the school this weekend. The Bearcats compete in the American Athletic Conference. Under coach Luke Fickell, Cincinnati went 10-2 this fall and finished third in the AAC. However, Lindauer has not decommitted from Southern Illinois University. The senior verbally committed to coach Nick Hill and the Salukis in July. That opportunity includes the chance play football and baseball. Memorial wide receiver Branson Combs, who is also Lindauer's cousin, has also verbally committed to SIU. The two have not signed a national letter of intent yet, which means they are not obligated to attend SIU. High school players can sign early between Dec. 19-21. The normal signing period begins on Feb. 6. Lindauer took his official visit to SIU on Dec. 1. The Salukis finished 2-9 this fall and announced changes to the coaching staff on Nov. 19. Assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Kraig Paulson, defensive line coach Austin Flyger, cornerbacks coach Carl Franks and quarterbacks coach Michael Williamson Jr. did not have their contracts renewed. Lindauer was instrumental in lifting the Tigers to success. After winning a state championship last year, Memorial (14-1) advanced to another state finals appearance with Lindauer finishing his senior season 247-of-386 passing for 3,858 yards and 51 touchdowns. He was second on the team in rushing with 512 yards and f...
